Our story

History

The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology was established to build indigenous capacity in computing and digital technology at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa.

From a single founding department, the faculty has grown into four specialized departments — Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Software Engineering — producing graduates equipped for careers across Nigeria's technology sector.

2015Computer Science establishedThe founding department begins undergraduate training in computing.
2016–2020Faculty expansionInformation Technology, Cyber Security, and Software Engineering departments are established.
2024/25Full NUC accreditationAll four undergraduate programmes receive full accreditation from the National Universities Commission.

How the Faculty is organised

The Dean reports to the Vice-Chancellor through University Management and Senate. Deputy Dean, postgraduate coordination, examination and laboratory units support academic quality across all four departments.
