Welcome to the Department of Animal Science. Our programmes prepare graduates for livestock production, pasture management, and animal husbandry in the dryland environments of northern Nigeria.

About the department

The Department of Animal Science was established in October 2022 alongside the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management. From its inception, the department has focused on livestock production systems adapted to the dryland and semi-arid ecology of northern Nigeria, with growing enrolment across all undergraduate levels.
